So basically this blog is going to be full of posts filled with things I like to take photos of. Things that interest me, things I do whether it be in my spare time or in my day-to-day routine. To do this, I need a camera and a bunch of lenses that suit my needs.
My weapon of choice is a Canon 600D or Canon T3i for the Americans. Its a great all-round camera that can do pretty much everything I need it to do and suits my needs perfectly. Although it has constraints on how far you can push your photographic ability, the camera is great and works for not only amateurs but professionals too.
Every photographer needs a few lenses and depending on your style and choice of subject matter, the range will differ and is endless. I currently have my hands on a 50 mm f1.4, a 28mm f2.8 and a 70 - 300 mm zoom lens, as well as the standard kit lens.
I chose to get two prime lenses because they offer great clarity and depth of field. I tend to use the 28mm for the more close up stuff and the 50mm more for portraits. The 50mm being an f1.4 gives off great bokeh, creating almost perfect circular shapes of light in the background - which I LOVE! Where as the 28mm f2.8 does not give off as much bokeh but still a sufficient amount - which keeps me happy.
This was taken with the 28mm, which is better for close-ups.
This was taken with the 50mm, showing the epic bokeh and DOF I was talking about.
As for my style of photography, it has changed a lot over the past 4 years. I started off taking photos of pretty much everything as a subject matter. I loved taking photos and editing them in such a way that they came out bright and very colour contrasty. However now I prefer a darker photo, that gives off a more emotional and mystical feel. I also have a passionate love for contrasty black and white photos, probably one of my favourite ways to edit.
When I started off taking photos, I was never really into portraiture. I preferred to stick to landscape and animal photography, however with my new lenses my fear of portraiture has almost become a thing of the past.
Thanks for looking, keep your eyes peeled for the next post.
